Bordeaux is a port city on the Garonne river in the Aquitaine region in southwestern France. The name of the city refers to its proximity to the water. The City of Bordeaux is well known as the world capital of wine, produced in the region since the 8th century.
The city is located close by the Arcachon Bay, a popular place to visit, with the highest dune in Europe, namely the « Dune du Pyla ».

Bordeaux has many historic locations to discover. The city, once nicknamed "Sleeping Beauty", has definitely awakened! A far-reaching urban development programme in recent years, along with huge investments in infrastructures, have made Bordeaux much more attractive and easier to discover. Don't miss the main monuments such as Pey-Berland Tower, Saint-André cathedral, and Place de la Bourse. If you want to go one step further, and have the time, you might wish to visit the Cité Frugès or Château de la Brède...
